The Endocrine System In Our Body
The endocrine system is made by so many glands in the body. All the endocrine glands secrete hormones. Hormones are the chemicals that gland cells produce. The hormones travel through blood into the different parts of the body. These hormones are responsible for the growth and regulation of our body.
There are different types of glands in the human body. Some glands are found only in men while some glands are found only in the female. Here is the list of glands and their brief introduction.
Pineal Gland
The pineal gland is a small size, endocrine gland present in the cerebrum. It delivers and secretes the hormone melatonin, which is a hormone that controls natural regular repeated patterns of the body, for example, sleeping and waking up.
Pituitary gland
The pituitary gland is the master gland of all the endocrine glands found in the brain of the human body. Although it is a small pea-shaped in size it gives instructions all the glands when and how much secretion of hormones is required for the body.
Thyroid & Parathyroids
Thyroid and parathyroids are found before the neck. It resembles the shape of a butterfly The thyroid gland mainly produces thyroxine hormones. The thyroid controls the body's digestion. The body's calcium and phosphorus balance is controlled by the parathyroid hormones.
Thymus
Thymus. The thymus is located in the upper piece of the chest. It makes white platelets, called T-cells. These cells battle diseases and demolish unusual cells. It produces thymosin hormone. The thymus is different from other endocrine glands because it is big in children. After puberty, it starts to shrink.
Adrenal
Adrenal glands are found in a pair. One adrenal gland is located on the top of each kidney. Adrenaline hormone is one of the special hormones which is secreted by the gland. The hormone gives you a boost when you are in trouble or want to run away from a terrible situation.
Pancreas
Behind the stomach, the pancreas is found. This endocrine gland produces the insulin hormone which controls the blood sugar level of our body. You must have heard of diabetes. The disease is caused when the pancreas is unable to produce the desired insulin.
Ovary
The ovaries are found in females. They are two in numbers. The ovary contains eggs for fertilization. Ovaries produce estrogen and progesterone hormone that make female feminine that is delicate and pretty.
